Avian History Form

This is a comprehensive form to be filled out prior to taking your bird into a veterinary office. It is long and detailed and not appropriate for emergency care. It is simply designed to give your veterinarian a detailed review of your bird’s health and should be completed when you have time.

Toxic Plant List

Dr Laura Wade compiled this list from the FDA website (noted on the file) and other sources. The list is a guide only.  Simply put, don’t let your animal around a plant if you are unsure of its toxicity.  Dr Wade is a bird specialist with a special interest in identifying and treating toxins in birds and pet exotic animals.  You can learn more about bird toxins in general by seeing her chapter ‘Household Dangers and Toxins’ in the Expert Companion Bird Care Series: Volume I DVD.

Safe Plant List

Dr Laura Wade also compiled this list of safe plants.  These plants are generally considered non-toxic when offered in their natural form to birds.  In other words, plants that are powdered, burned or in otherwise altered forms may have toxic principles.
